Feist dog often called Mountain or Treeing dog is one of the earlier dogs in the country. They are small and short – haired dogs that can weight up to 30 lbs., strong legs and shoulder with tiny head brought to the US by British Immigrants. Actually, some say English immigrants, which confuse others as to American or British. Anyways, since there are many creative breeders of terriers (where Feist dogs came from)  in British country so Feist dog was likely brought by these British immigrants.

Feist dog can serve well in family, hunting and circus. They do not serve well in pet shows because of their very simple appearance.  Despite this, Feist dog is best as family and hunting dog. This kind of dog is alert, intelligent, bold, and courageous and likes the company of other dogs. Unlike other dogs, a Feist dog is just quiet and do not bark often.

 At farm, feist dog can be use to hunt squirrels and kill rodents using their instinct. While as a family dog, they are playful, playing with their owner and children. It is also intelligent, doing tricks learned from training. One can also see feist dog in several circuses performing with other clown; they jump high. Feist may seem so capable with many things, but they also need lots of loving and care coming from pet owner.
