Pet Shop Laws
By Jo on Nov 21, 2007 in pet stores
It is a great thing that our government is taking part in caring after our dear pets. We often think that pets are just a concern of pet owners and those animal organizations. Well, they must have realized that pets are part of the families in the community they are serving. Some the district government offices have laws protecting the pets at pet stores. Many of us know that buying pets from pet stores anywhere is prohibited. Pet owners are discouraged of doing such thing since pets at any pet stores are not much cared after. Looking after pets is quite expensive and many pet stores cannot carry on with the expenditures of feeding all their pets. Other than feeding, pets need also to play, walk, exercise and be in a comfortable place. Pet stores may provide some of it but with limit.
Seeing this needs, thankfully, some district government office created laws in answer to this concern. There are several states and district that gives mandate to pet stores in their area of the proper care and treatment to animals. Yet there are still other areas that have not made the same effort to answer the situation of pets in their local pet stores. The State Pet Shops Law contain regulations as to the proper housing, food, sanitary conditions, selling of unweaned animals, health and health record. Contact your district animal welfare office to know other mandated regulations regarding pets at pet stores. It will also be helpful to report to them any violations regarding this law. This is such good news for every pet lover. This would at least lessen the risk of getting unhealthy animals from pet stores.
